Helping you make better decisions and deliver under pressure (but without burning out)

Andrew is a TEDx and approved VISTAGE speaker, serving diverse organisations including most recently; Amazon, Lloyds, Gloucestershire County Council, Aston University, Chartered Institute of Marketing, Andrew helps organisational leaders to solve painful leadership headaches:

  • How do you deliver on your responsibilities and aspirations without sacrificing your most precious things? (like your sanity, health, relationships)

  • How do you know when to pull the plug or when to persevere, or when to play it safe or do something audacious?

  • How do you delegate a task and massively increase the chances of the task being completed on time and to the standard you want?

Andrew is on a mission to prevent burnout and create decisive and resilient communities of people. Bringing over 25 years of commercial and people development skills, Andrews serves organisational leaders, helping them to make better decisions under pressure, to withstand long-term adversity and lead boldly and from the front.

  • Critical Decision Making (under pressure and when the stakes are high)

  • Tackling burnout (corporately and self-care)

  • Effective delegation (the nuts and bolts of how to do it)

  • Time management (on the good and bad days!)

Delivering insightful, entertaining and content rich talks, Andrew brings a wealth of business and personal experience into his talks. From recruiting for a FTSE 100 company, to working as a lone entrepreneur (initially from his garden shed in the south of France), to now developing a social enterprise serving the long term unemployed in the most deprived areas of Birmingham and North Worcestershire, Andrew is a speaker, an accredited coach, a father of 5 (with 3 boys under 9) and social campaigner. He is the trustee of a charity which supports families where children are the perpetrators of domestic violence and he is the lead on a money mentoring programme for people in financial crisis.

As a speaker, Andrew's primary niche is leadership and fostering wellbeing and talent development, so leaders can perform in today's complex and uncertain environment with confidence and wisdom, making decisions, developing unity in their teams and inspiring engagement, whilst protecting against burnout, both for themselves and their teams.

HOW TO MAKE CRITICAL DECISIONS WHEN THE STAKES ARE HIGH

  • How do you make wise decisions when you're under pressure and out of time?

  • What's the best approach for big decisions? Your Gut? Your Heart? Your Brain? A mix of all of them? Or an Algorithm?

  • How do you know when to play it safe and when to do something audacious?

Drawing on a wealth of experience and research, you’ll explore three, very common yet mind-bending dilemmas faced by organisational leaders in order to reveal insights and strategies to help you make difficult decisions, but do so wisely, promptly and with less stress, so that you experience better outcomes in your life, and you're decisive when it matters.

You will learn:

1) Why your gut is both powerful and flawed and when to best use it.

2) Why unconscious biases undermine good decision-making and the 3 most dangerous biases to look out for.

3) Why boundaries form the foundation of effective decision making and self-mastery.

4) How to create and communicate your boundaries, so you no longer get pulled into things you’d rather avoid, you no longer accept things you know to be wrong, and you no longer get stuck when you most need to move.

5) How to navigate your most difficult decisions with minimal stress, and why heuristics enable prompt decision making, whilst protecting you from the flaws in your gut.

6) Why we ignore important issues when we're under pressure and the 4 critical components to help spot problems early, in order to prevent nasty (yet avoidable) shocks and to avoid having the rug pulled out from under our feet when we least expected it.

HOW TO STOP BURNOUT, SO WORK/LIFE BALANCE IS A REALITY NOT A UTOPIA

Regarded by the World Health Organisation as a key driver of work-place absence and a major challenge for professionals who are striving and coping in our complex 21st century world, there's little doubt that burnout is a real and present danger, which poses grave consequences for people and organisations who ignore it. But what is burnout? What are the triggers? Is it preventable and if so, how do you prevent it?

In this session, participants will explore:

1) The most common work-place triggers of burnout and how to tackle them.

2) Why tackling burnout requires a wider focus than simply the work environment.

3) The critical mindset shifts required to handle arduous and long-term stress.

4) How elite performers process and respond to set-backs, using T.E.S.T.

5) Why Imposter syndrome is so toxic, the two types of imposter syndrome to look out for and how to tackle them.

6) How to manage long term worries using The Worry Scale, so you remain proactive about tackling your worries, but without getting consumed by them.

7) How to create rhythms and routines which energise in the toughest of times.

8) Why boundaries are at the heart of self-mastery and the safeguarding of our wellbeing: how to create them and how to adhere to them.

9) How to create homeworking systems which enable you to get more done, but in less time and without burning out.
